Our Company

Background

Our founding directors, Clive Gardner and Nigel Whiteman commenced their working relationship in 1981 as managers with a Process Engineering company which engaged in a wide variety of projects in the Dairy and Meat industries.

As General Manager of the Projects Division Nigel can recall his frustration and concern at having to run relatively complex and high risk projects with limited financial information from crude computerized accounting systems. This frustration was shared by Clive as Financial Controller and so jointly they evolved policies and procedures to better manage and report on projects in a corporate environment.

By 1984 PC based systems were emerging and providing new and exciting opportunities for those with an interest in business management. The temptation was too great for Clive and Nigel who left the security of their corporate world to establish Task Management, a company supplying and supporting PC based financial management and accounting systems.

Task Management enjoyed considerable success with a locally developed accounting application, implementing over 400 sites across a wide range of industry sectors, including many project based organizations. For many companies during these early years this was their first experience of computer based systems and so the benefits from automation alone were enormous.

By the mid 1990’s we felt that PC based accounting systems were showing a level of maturity and organizations were beginning to explore the benefits of computers for the operational functions within their business. Through close involvement with our many project based clients we recognized that the traditional accounting based solutions were no longer sufficient to support the modern project manager and that a more tailored solution was required.

In 1997, confident in our practical experience and understanding of managing projects we commenced development of Workbench, a “best of breed” project management application designed to interface into commonly used accounting applications.

Workbench

The Workbench software has evolved since 1997 into a highly functional project management and accounting application which enjoys success internationally as a leading solution in the project management market. This success has resulted in the historical accounting system business activities being transferred into a separate organization, leaving Task Management to focus totally on the development and support of the Workbench application.

All development and support is carried out from our Auckland office with Sales and Consulting services provided internationally through accredited agents.

Task Management continues to work closely with clients to enhance the functionality within Workbench to meet the ever increasing operational demands of project based businesses. The Workbench Annual Maintenance program ensures all clients receive the benefit of this collaboration through regular upgrades of the software that include new features that reflect current business practices.

WorkbenchSBO

Late in 2004 we were introduced to SAP Business One and were immediately excited by the rich user interface and the availability of a Software Development Kit to build seamless integration with third party products like Workbench.

During 2005 Task Management became an authorized SAP Business One ISV Partner and completed the accounting integration of Workbench with SAP Business One (SBO). The resulting WorkbenchSBO solution is ideal for any project based business and rapidly gaining international recognition.

Resources

The success of Task Management over the years has resulted in a company that is financially secure with a stable team of highly professional developers and consultants who diligently service our clients and agents. We continue to be totally committed to the growth and success of Workbench internationally and seek long term, effective relationships with all our clients.

Clients

The quality of the Workbench application is best evidenced by the calibre and reputation of organizations now using Workbench as their primary operational management tool.
